My Story

My journey has been deeply shaped by life’s challenges. I lost my father before he had the chance to retire and my mother to a series of health complications. In some ways, I found myself “orphaned” before the age of 50. While the term “orphan” often conveys a sense of being unloved or uncared for—something far from my experience—the emotional weight of these losses has stayed with me. Looking back, I can’t help but wonder if my parents might have had an additional decade of life if they had embraced better nutrition and lifestyle habits earlier.

Through my studies, I’ve come to understand that our health is not solely determined by genetics. The idea that “my mother had diabetes, so I’ll get it too” is outdated and misleading. While genetics do play a role, they only account for about 20% of our health outcomes. The remaining 80% is influenced by the choices we make and, to some degree, by the circumstances life presents. Some people are fortunate to grow up in environments filled with nutritious food and encouragement toward healthy activities, while others face obstacles where survival takes precedence over health.

Recognising this, I approach every client with compassion and without judgment. My goal is to provide unwavering support, tailored to each individual’s journey. My mother’s dietary and lifestyle choices undoubtedly impacted her health, but they were shaped by complex psychological factors and a lack of knowledge. These personal experiences, along with my education, have fuelled my commitment to helping others with empathy, understanding, and practical tools for positive change.

My Career

In my late twenties, I met my husband and moved to Copenhagen. Armed with a passion for food and transitioning from a marketing career in London, I embraced a new chapter of life. As we started a family, I found time to explore cooking more deeply. What began as a hobby quickly became an obsession. I was fortunate to join a training program in Copenhagen, where I learned advanced culinary techniques from chefs who had experience in Michelin-starred kitchens. This only further ignited my passion for creating exquisite, artful food.

I developed a fascination with crafting small, intricate bites of food—each one a delightful experience. What started as preparing food for a few small parties grew into teaching cooking classes and hosting monthly supper clubs. When we eventually moved back to England, I founded Joy of Taste. What began with catering elegant canapé parties expanded into catering events for up to 500 guests, including prestigious gatherings for design showrooms in London.

Throughout this journey, I remained committed to sourcing natural, seasonal, and sometimes foraged ingredients. I developed a passion for heritage vegetables and traditional techniques, including making sourdough bread. Over time, the health aspects of food became increasingly important to me. Eventually, I opened a deli where I served fresh salads, sourdough breads, and ran cooking schools. I also hosted sustainable supper clubs that celebrated the diversity of vegetables and emphasised holistic, nourishing meals.

As my interest in the relationship between food and wellness deepened, I felt as though I had come full circle. Even as a teenager, I was drawn to health food stores and the idea of using food as a foundation for well-being. After meeting several Nutritional Therapists and learning more about their work, I realised this was the path for me. My journey has been one of constant growth, learning, and a passion for connecting food with holistic health.
